Spikes, Spines, Tans and Blues

These photos are the result of a walk around a nearby lake.

It was cold, beautifully so, with frost and leftover snow crunching beneath my feet. I was especially partial to the buds or thorns, the trees and blooms stripped of their leaves. They are still standing, yellow stalks bending in the wind, waiting for spring again.
